  1. I saw this recommendation today. I understand that it was recommended on June 16 2024 before the court gave the approval on the family settlement and since then the stock has skyrocketed to 675 as on today. Do you still see value in the stock incase we wish to invest today for above 1 -2 years?
    Thanks

Great analysis. Thank you. Seems a very interesting bet. Technically also – the stock is well positioned. Given the good monsoon expectation + increase in MSP + expected general increase in rural focus by the new dispensation should augur well for this stock.

  3. Do you forsee any impact on the recent backlash on usage of palm oil in chips, eating items, etc. Some companies have also announced discontinuation of palm oil in their products

      Welcome your query sir,

It is largely related to “health consciousness” campaigns rather the oil being unfit for use. So, there will not be any ban on usage of palm oil.

And over time, with street food, snacking and restaurant boom, it has become an oil of choice due to its low price and uninterrupted availability from neighboring countries.

Even if you take popular snacking brands like Haldirams, palm oil is clearly mentioned under “ingredients” in the pack

Alternate options like Coconut/Gingely oil are untouchable for their price for commercial use cases mentioned above. Scaling up domestic production of other oils like ground nut/mustard/sunflower at this price point also looks unlikely

While people generally use healthier options at home, a big chunk of out-of-home commercial users depend on palm oil

So, no worries for Godrej as its contribution is still miniscule considering the total palm oil imported and consumed here. I think palm oil is here to stay and won’t be surprised if its offtake increases further from here
(Adani Wilmar and Patanjali Foods are the two biggest importers of crude palm oil and selling in retail market)

      Hope this clarifies

      Thank you

      1. Thank you for your response. Appreciate it.

I have a more generic query – as a part of your Stock Research/Recommendation and Quarterly updates, do you also meet/speak with the management?

          Welcome your query sir,

In general, we listen to post earnings concalls, participate in concalls, listen to mgmt interviews, etc. in whichever stocks they are available

          That’s it.

And since we also don’t go too low on the M Cap order, the publicly available info. are fine and enough for us.
This is impt. w.r.t our reco.

Generally, we try to look at how good a “business” is and how well it is delivering financial performance.
A good mgmt. gives more confidence, but the primary criteria is a “good business”

          Here’s one example;
